Aberdeen Spring 1 Day Mixed Touch Tournament: This coming Saturday!!

_The latest slight revised schedule with some notes for the Captain/co-ordinators (please read and disseminate) has been sent to team co-ordinators and is attached below. We intend to tap of at 10:30 and the weather looks fair. Bring plenty of sun-block. Water is available from the kitchen and there will be soft drinks available from the check-point and bar. We will have a BBQ running for food but it would be a good idea to bring your own snacks etc. All being well, we will finish around 5:30pm with a short presentation in the bar.Look forward to seeing you all and playing against some of you.

Games will be 25 mins with a half time at the referees discretion otherwise normal FIT rules will apply.

Trends of the Game’ This summer the STA will be hosting ‘Trends of the Game’, a series of free workshops for players, coaches and administrators of all levels.

·         Learn about the latest on-field and off-field developments in touch

·         Get practical advice for improving your performance as a team and individuals

·         Quiz Scotland’s top coaches, players and referees

‘Trends of the Game’ workshops will be held from 7.30pm on the Friday night before each STS tournament this summer. The format will be presentations, using video and live models, followed by open floor question and answer sessions.

Host and presenters:

·         Simon Ebbett, STA High Performance Director (Host)

·         Robbie McKenzie, STA National Squad Coaching Director

·         Jaymie Mart (Optimum Nutrition), National Squad Sports Science Lead

·         Local representative players and referees

‘Trends of the Game’ is free and open to participants at STS tournaments and local touch leagues, of all levels and degrees of experience. Please contact the STS tournament organiser to register interest. Don’t miss this opportunity to pick the brains of Scotland’s leading practitioners and get the most out of our sport this summer.

Touch Europe Referee Level 2 Course

This is the intermediate, full-day course which requires level 1 certification and at least 1 seasons refereeing experience. At the end of the course and practical assessment, attendees will gain the status of a Touch Europe Level 2 referee.

Course contents:

- Presentation
- Interactive Session
- Theory & Practical assessment
- Touch Europe Level 2 Badge (after passing practical assessment)
- Light Refreshments & Lunch

Cost: £30

Location: To be confirmed. Aberdeen area - possibly Cruden Bay.
